Toner and Ink Cartridge Recycling Program
Origination Date: April 1, 2015
Revision Date: March 17, 2017
Owner: Supply Chain and Information Systems
As part of Advocate’s initiative to minimize environmental harm, Advocate is continuing with its toner and ink cartridge
recycling program. Advocate’s new recycling program will now be managed solely by COTG. The recycling program will
continue to help Advocate contribute to minimizing landfill waste! Minimizing harm to the environment contributes to the
health and well-being of our patients, physicians and associates. COTG will provide regular reporting to Advocate so that
we can quantify our recycling efforts.
As of February 1, 2017, Advocate will receive a quarterly rebate equal to one dollar ($1.00) per returned toner cartridge.
For example, if Advocate returns 1,000 toner cartridges to COTG in a given quarter, COTG will send a rebate payment to
Advocate in the amount of $1,000 for that quarter.
Main Hospital Locations
Each department is responsible for sending all used cartridges to the hospital’s dock where it will be stored on pallets for
pickup. End users may walk the user cartridges to the receiving dock or give to the receiving staff when they are making their
daily deliveries. Do NOT call receiving to pick up cartridges. Cartridges are to be stored securely on the pallet (not loose).
The Supply Chain Manager at each site will contact Cheryl Beckman (cheryl.beckman@xerox.com)
to schedule a pickup or to coordinate a regular pickup schedule.
Offsite Locations (excluding Dreyer)
All cartridges will come with an individual UPS, pre-paid return label inside of the toner cartridge box. If you have misplaced
the return label, you can print a new one via the following website: https://cotg.tonerrecycle.net.
The returns can be given to any UPS driver or dropped off at any UPS location.
